Short film
MD200-4
With this project we were given the independent step into creating our own short film animation. We could create a narrative structure, an emotive brand film, or perhaps something more abstract or conceptual while using elements of 3D animation, typography, photography, illustration.
Concept:
The phrase "touch grass" is often used colloquially, especially on social media, to encourage someone to go outside and experience the real world, rather than spending too much time indoors or on the internet. It's a way of suggesting that someone might be spending too much time in a virtual or indoor environment and should take a break to enjoy nature or engage in physical activities. Essentially, it's a reminder to get out, get some fresh air, and connect with the natural world.

The main character that has a box head (symbolizes being stuck, stuck inside 4 walls/mind) and dead eyes glued to his phone screen while walking. He lives in a fast-paced claustrophobic world full of social media, creating a boring repetitive life. Making everyday feel the same. Background is of the gloomy busy everyday city life. He drops his phone. His body separates from itself with the box head remaining. Background begins to biodegrade back into nature. Box head opens its eyes. The camera zooms in on the box head as real eyes open up. Box head breaking into pieces and disappears . Mushroom pop up then they sinks into the grass/ground. Title appears. “Touch Grass”.

Stop motion as the main technique. Main character will be rigged with a puppet tool or Duik Bassel/ Angela. The background will use the 3D parallax technique.
